Join the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce for an afternoon of FREE Halloween fun on Saturday, October 31st from 1:00–3:00 p.m. in Downtown Gainesville and at the Gainesville Farmers Market!
Bring the whole family and trick-or-treat your way through participating businesses, enjoy music and activities, check out the decorated businesses around Gainesville, and don’t forget to enter our annual Costume Contest!
TRICK-OR-TREATING
Participating businesses will be ready with candy, goodies, and more! We’ll share an official Scare on the Square map before the event so you know where to find all of our participating stops.
COSTUME CONTEST PRESENTED BY NORTEX COMMUNICATIONS
The Costume Contest will take place at the Gainesville Farmers Market at 2:30 p.m. There is no cost to participate. Those interested in participating do not need to register. Just simply show up at the Farmers Market and be ready to come to the stage when your division is announced!
Costume divisions include ages 0–3, 4–7, 8–12 and 13–18, plus Best Adult Costume, Best Group Costume and Best Dog Costume.
FALL & HALLOWEEN BUSINESS DECORATING CONTEST PRESENTED BY FIRST UNITED BANK
Our decorating contest is getting BIGGER this year! For the first time, businesses throughout the Gainesville area are invited to decorate for Fall or Halloween and compete for a $200 prize.
Entries will be featured on the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce Facebook page, where YOU get to help choose the winner!

Businesses located within the Downtown District can participate from their business location FREE and will be included on the official trick-or-treat map. Businesses outside the Downtown District can reserve a $50 booth at the Gainesville Farmers Market to hand out candy, goodies, promotional items, or host a free activity for families. No sales are permitted from Farmers Market business booths.
